Our Chamber History
The Freeburg Chamber was formed on December 9, 1929 when the Freeburg Men’s Business Association became the Freeburg Commercial Club, though its roots stretch back further through other organizations in Freeburg. The Commercial Club name stuck around until late 1948 when the club became Freeburg Chamber of Commerce Inc. The original Commercial Club met at Schifferdecker’s Hall when it formed in 1929. In 1973, the Chamber made a push to encourage more women to become members.
Over the years, the Freeburg Chamber of Commerce has continued to grow and evolve in its mission to promote a positive business environment in Freeburg. The Chamber meets on the second Monday of the month at the Freeburg Library and hosts many events annually, including the Chili Cook Off and Fall Festival, an annual BBQ, and an annual banquet.
